Office of Graduate Studies

NSU is one of the nation’s largest Historically Black Universities, (HBCU). Our graduate programs attract students and faculty from diverse national, racial and ethnic backgrounds. Master’s degree programs are offered in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice, Electronics Engineering, Materials Science, Media and Communications, Music, Pre-Elementary Education, Special Education, Social Work, Teaching, Urban Affairs, Urban Education, and Visual Studies.

Doctoral of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs are offered in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, and Materials Science and Engineering.

Admissions Deadline

November 1: Priority deadline for Spring admissions.
June 30: Priority deadline for fall admissions.

Students with complete applications by these deadlines will be guaranteed an admission decision prior to the start of the term for which the application was submitted.  All other students may be considered for admission for the subsequent semester.

Thesis/Dissertation Format Deadlines

March 19, 2018 : Deadline for Theses/Dissertations to be submitted to Graduate Studies for format approval.

April 6, 2018: Deadline for final approval of format to participate in Fall Commencement.

June 15, 2018:  Deadline for final approval of format for spring degree conferral if not participating in Commencement.

August 3, 2018:  Deadline for Theses/Dissertations to be submitted to Graduate Studies for format approval for summer degree conferral.
